SPORTSMAN PUB

Located on Soi 13 between Beach road and 2nd road, we got to visit Sportsman Pub for an update. Sportsman is an iconic restaurant in Pattaya as it first opened in 1997 and continues to grow and evolve with Pattaya. Sportsman is very highly rated on Trip advisor and probably best known for its Sunday Roasts.
We visited on a Friday night when its’ highly valued Pizza and Pasta bar was offered. The full menu was available as well but the buffet provided an easy way to satisfy our vegan needs. They even produced vegan pizzas!
So I started with the Friday fish and chips which is highly regarded in Pattaya. Made with real Norwegian Cod, it was excellent. I think they offer more types of potato options than you can imagine. Chips, fries, roasted, mashed, baked and on and on. Perfectly battered with a delicious tartar sauce it did not disappoint.
For a Thai dish we chose Tom Yum Kung. Our Thai expert said it was the best she ever had passing up her normal favorite place. It was a large serving with rice and made a complete meal. Sportsman serving sizes are always very satisfying.
Choosing only vegan items from the Pizza and Pasta buffet yielded a wide variety of tastes to sample. There is a small salad bar included as well. At just 249 baht it is one of the better value options in Pattaya. Om Friday night they also offer 2 for 1 cocktails of which there are 8 different choices. It was comfortably busy when we were there.
Since Sportsman is also the producer of highly regarded Bowman pies we chose a steak pie. It arrived with a large bowl of gravy as well as fries and a large portion of assorted veggies. Easy to see why Bowman pies are available all around town.
Unfortunately it was not possible to try many of the newest offerings. Both the Indonesian beef dish and a new “pizza toastie” looked like I need to revisit. I took home a serving of
Pea and Ham soup knowing it would make a great breakfast for me.
Lastly, it was time for dessert and the Sportsman did not disappoint. We chose an Apple Crumble with custard, a Cherry pie with vanilla ice cream, and a vanilla sponge cake with strawberry sauce and vanilla ice cream. I was pleasantly surprised how well custard complemented the Apple Crumble.
A very pleasant and comfortable evening was had by all.
