PATTAYA CLASSICAL MUSIC

Gregory Barton is once again presenting some quality classical music performances in June at his exclusive Eelswamp studio.
Two of his much loved regular visitors are appearing next month. They are Alexandre Vay and Dimitri Papadopoulos, who both have a great standard, great taste in music and work hard to bring us great repertoire.
On their previous four visits they have played masterpieces such as the Tchaikovsky Trio, the Dvorak Trio in F minor, the complete Beethoven Cello Sonatas and the Bach solo Cello Suites. This year they will be playing two trios with Tasana Nagavajara and two favourite cello sonatas: the Chopin and the Rachmaninov.
Dimitri is an interesting fellow. He is the son of a Syrian-Greek mathematician. In fact Dimitri was born at Princeton while his father was teaching there. Dimitri studied mathematics before turning to music. He studied at Lyon Conservatory, (Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Lyon) where he graduated with Premier Prix de Conservatoire. He has won many prizes in national piano competitions, such as
• 1st prize Saint-nom-la-Bretèche,
• 1st prize Vulaines-sur Seine,
• 1st prize Lagny-sur-Marne
He also won 1st prize in the Steinway Forderpreis 2010 Dusseldorf and now teaches at the Geneva Conservatory. He has recorded three CDs including the complete Beethoven Cello Sonatas with Alexandre.
Alexandre also graduated with Premier prix de Conservatoire from the Lyon Conservatory. He studied a masters degree at Karlsruhe and was mentored by famous cellists including Janos Starker, Gary Hoffman and Steven Isserlis. He is currently Associate Solo Cello at Munich’s Radio Orchestra.
Dimitri and Alexandre will be joined by Tasana Nagavajara to perform two concerts:
Friday 14th June: Mendelsson Trio no. 2 and Chopin Cello Sonata
Saturday 15th June: Shostakovich Trio and Rachmaninov Cello Sonata
