48th INDEPENDENCE AND NATIONAL DAY OF BANGLADESH

Hotel was the venue on Friday 29. March for the celebration of the 48th Independence and National Day of Bangladesh. Many dignitaries attended the function including His Excellency Md. Nazmul Quaunine, Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Kingdom of Thailand. Also attending was Banglamung District Chief Amnat Charoensri, representing Pattaya Mayor Sonthaya Khunplome was Khun Rattanachai Suthidechanai, Pattaya People Media Group Chairman Niels Colov also attended together with his wife Khun Patsanan Colov. A cultural show performed by young people of the Bangladesh community in Pattaya was on display and speeches were made by some of the honorary guests.
The Independence of Bangladesh was declared on 26. March 1971 by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Another declaration was read out on 27. March 1971, by Major Ziaur Rahman, on behalf of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Major Zia raised an independent Z Force brigade. Chittagong and the guerilla struggle officially began. The people of Bangladesh then took part in a war to get independence from Pakistan. Independence of Bangladesh was gained through a nine-month guerilla war against the Pakistan Army, and their collaborators including paramilitary Razakars which resulted in the death of about 3 million people in the Bangladesh War of Independence and Bangladesh Genocide. Later with military support from India the Pakistan Army was defeated ending the war on 16. December of that year.
Today I was invited as one of the Guests of Honor, together with His Excellency The Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand, to celebrate this special day for the Bangladesh community in Pattaya.
