WEST END MEN

WEST END MEN
The Thailand Cultural Centre Theatre, Bangkok, was the venue for a London’s West End Theatre experience featuring three superstars of West End musicals, Daniel Koek (Les Miserables), Hugh Maynard (Miss Saigon) and Ashley Stillburn (Sweeney Todd). They were complimented by one lady, Harriet Jones (Phantom Of The Opera).
The music was supplied by the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra and the whole event was staged by Big Mango Productions featuring Pattaya’s own Mike Bridge.
‘This is our first major production’ said Mike adding ‘we have been delighted by the response, especially by a large contingent travelling up from Pattaya.
The show’s opening remarks were from the British Ambassadour to Thailand, Brian Davidson who spoke to Pattaya People Media Group’s Barry Upton during the interval about his joy of witnessing such an event which showcases the spectacle, diversity and creativity of London’s theatres on a stage here in Thailand.
The content ranged from classic old musicals like ‘Guys & Dolls’, ‘West Side Story’, etc., to more recent musical productions like ‘Les Miserable’ and ‘Miss Saigon’. On top of all that there were arrangements of other songs to show off the West End Men’s vocal talents together such as ‘Kiss From A Rose’. Harriet Jones was the icing on the cake adding a fourth harmony as well her solo spots.
With such an acclaimed orchestra backing the singers, the whole experience was exhilarating and we can all hope that many more productions like this will be gracing Thailand in the near future.
