RACKETLON – FOUR RACKET SPORT SPECTACULAR
Despite Racketlon being a big hit in Europe as a four sport collective, it is relatively new to S. E. Asia.
Frank Leiber is a former world champion in racket sports and in January held his second annual Racketlon international completion at the Ambassadour Hotel just outside Pattaya.
As with the Decathalon and Pentathalon, Racketlon is a series of sports played one after another, in this case, in order from the smallest bat to the largest racket.
So, competitors start with table tennis and then move on after a three minute rest to badminton. Another three minute rest and then squash followed by tennis. Each game is scored with the winner being the first to 21 points. However all points are cumulative right up to the last tennis point.
The January event attracted some of Europe and Asia’s finest contendors with the final contested by 2 superfit players from France and Denmark.
The French player Arnaud Genin beat Jesper Hogaard and won the trophy after a very exciting final with the level of play being world class.
Frank Kleiber hopes to make this an annual event here in Pattaya and we at Pattaya People wish him every success.
