ROTARY DREAM BOX

ROTARY DREAM BOX
It’s a privilege to be associated with such a worthwhile cause – supporting needy kids at the poorest schools in Pattaya. The Pattaya Rotary Club and the Hand 2 Hand Foundation recently launched the Dream Box Appeal.
All the children write a letter with their ‘wish’, which goes into the monthly draw. You won’t find requests for iPhones. Designer jeans. Nikes. These kids have different priorities in life.
The stories they have to tell can’t fail to move you. The little girl who asked for some pencils so she no longer had to keep borrowing from her friends. An older girl who needed Pampers for her younger brother. The boy who asked for glasses so he could read what teacher was writing on the board. So he would no longer be punished for talking in class because he had to ask his friend what to do, and by his grandma when he got home, for not writing down the homework that he was supposed to have copied from the board…
To be able to fulfil the dreams of children who live in conditions of abject poverty that few Westerners in town would believe possible is a great project and just to see their happy, smiling little faces this morning was reward enough.
