THAI GIRLS ON TOP IN FIRST ROUND OF ‘PTT THAILAND LPGA MASTERS 2018’
Bangkok, 19 September 2018 : Top-form Parinda Phokan – no. 1 of Thai LPGA Tour 2017 and Wanchana Phoruangrong – current no.2 of Thai LPGA Tour 2018 finished on top of ‘PTT THAILAND LPGA MASTERS 2018’ with score 6 under 66. While Pannarat Thanapolboonyaras – 2015 Champion ranked no.4 with score 3 under 69.
‘PTT THAILAND LPGA MASTERS 2018’ – the tri-sanctioned tournament and season-ending of Thai LPGA Tour 2018 finished its 1st round on 19 September 2018 at Panya Indra Golf Club Bangkok with 6,420 Yard Par 72. Parinda Phokan is on T1, getting birdies on Hole 1, 4, 6, 8, 9 and 12 with bogie-free, together with Wanchana Phoruangrong, getting birdie on Hole 1, 5, 6, 10, 12 and 15 with bogie-free. Following by Waralee Atcharerk ranked no. 3 at score 4 under 68.
Khon Kaen’s Prainda said that, “I made 13 fairways, 18 regular ons and 31 putts which were good. I could make approach and good putts. If today was good round, so I believe that it will be better in second and third. I wish to win in this course once. I haven’t play in Thailand for a while since March because I was on tours in South Korea, China and also Taiwan which offered me good chance to learn and improve mayself. The rest 3 months is planned for qualifying in Stage 2, 3 and 4 in JLPGA.”
Wanchana Phoruangrong, 24 years old from Surin, said after her first round that, “I could make 13 fairways, 15 regular-ons and 26 putts, even greens are hard and pin positions are on corners, but I made some good putts. The course was wet and balls were stuck because of raining. I think I made it pretty good. I will try not to put any pressure to myself and hope to win in this tournament.”
Pannarat Thanapolboonyaras, 21 years old from Roi Ed who is now play in LPGA Tour and was the best Thai player in no.26 of Evian Championship, made 3 under 69 and in T4 together with Anchisa Utama from Lopburi and Park Jinhee from South Korea.
“I made all fairways and also pretty good approach and birdies. I just arrived Bangkok last night from France. Got a bit tired and the weather was quite hot. I still aim the win but I think the field is very strong. I will perform my best game as I did in Evian Championship and wish to keep the LPGA Tour Card with me for another year. Now I am in no.78.” Pannarat said.
The 5-wins back-to-back in Singha-SAT Thai LPGA Championship 2018, Arpichaya Yubol – 16 years old from Saraburi finished the day with 1 under 71 and ranked no. T16. While Saranporn Langkulgasettrin, the defending champion and no.1 of China LPGA Tour 2017, is on even par 72 – ranked no. T23 of first round.
The 2018 season-ending of THAI LPGA Tour, “PTT Thailand LPGA Masters 2018” is the second tri-sanctioned between Thai LPGA, China LPGA and Australian LPG and will be held during 19-21 September 2018 at Panya Indra Golf Club – Bangkok with total purse money of 4 million Thai Baht and world ranking points. The tournament is the ladies professional golf tournament originated and organized by THAI LPGA with the field of 2018 edition featured by 114 players from 15 countries which are 35 players of THAI LPGA, 44 players of China LPGA, 20 players of Australian LPG and 15 invitation spots in stroke play format of 54 holes in 3 rounds. There is cut-off after 2 rounds for top 50 and tie to compete in 3rd round in 21 September for total purse money of 4 million Thai Baht and world ranking points. The champion will earn 600,000 Thai Baht as prize money. The tournament is supported by PTT Public Company Limited, Sports Authority of Thailand and National Sports Development Fund, Singha Sorporation, Panya Indra Golf Club, Thongchai Jaidee Foundation, Betagro and True Visions.
2-day LIVE Broadcasting on Thursday, 20 September (13.30-16.30 hrs.) and Friday, 21 September (11.00-14.30 hrs.) is through True Sport HD 2 of True Visions.
