PATTAYA UNITED SLIP INTO THE DROP ZONE

PATTAYA UNITED SLIP INTO THE DROP ZONE
After a mixed run of results in May, Pattaya United have slipped into the relegation area of the Thai Premier League. A 3-0 win at home against Sukhothai saw the team in a comfortable mid table position but following a disappointing 2-1 defeat away to Ratchburi FC and a home loss against league leaders Buriram Utd ending up 2-4, our local team have slipped into the bottom five. As five teams will go down this year, a lot of work now needs to be done to avoid the drop.
The visit of the biggest team in Thailand, Buriram, saw an almost capacity crowd of 5,500 pack the Dolphin stadium and the atmosphere was electric.
The match itself was a high class, keenly fought contest and, although the home side tried their hardest, Buriram showed too much class and were 2-0 up by half time. Pattayas’ good build up play was too many times thwarted by a poor final ball into the box although their first goal was a pin point accurate through ball which was excellently dispatched into the goal by Picha. More movement off the ball and especially in the box is required for the Pattaya team to be more effective in front of goal, essential for the home match against Muang Thong Utd..
All of Burirams four goals, including a hat trick from tall centre forward Edgar, were of a class that could grace the English Premier League and some of the skills from Diogo, who scored the fourth, were a delight to see.
The endeavor of both sides cannot be faulted and despite the loss, Pattaya Utds’ fans had to admit they had been entertained and were fairly beaten by a better side.
