A burglary had taken place at Kerry Express Thailand at their office on the 36 highway, a thief had stolen a safe containing nearly 300,000 baht in cash. On 19. April only one day after the theft the Chonburi police held a press conference to present a suspect to the burglary as well as 181,770 baht in cash, a white gold ring valued at 14,000 baht, a green safe size 50×50 cm, a green coat, black trousers, equipment that could have been used to open the safe, and a red-gray motorbike with sidecar all as evidence to the crime. On 18. April Miss Sutthisa Suthiwari age 23, manager at the Kerry Express branch, contacted the police and reported that a thief had stolen the safe in the office with 288,823 baht inside. Police studied CCTV footage and registered that around 21.50 pm a man wearing a t-shirt with a black overcoat and black trousers and a cap was sneaking into the office lifted the safe out of the room and then drove a forklift into the safe to open it without any luck, then took the safe and drove away with it. Police found out that identity of the thief was Mr. Chaiya a worker at the company. He was later arrested at his home, where the police found all the evidence and got a confession to the crime from him. Chaiyo to the police that he had been using the money to roam around drinking and given some money to students in his neighborhood, the reason for the theft was that he felt that he was underpaid of the company and as such wanted a raise by taking the matter into his own hands.
