ANNOYING WATCH SELLERS
Gang of fake watch sellers has again hurt the reputation of our city. This time they was a problem with some American soldiers who were in Thailand to participate in the “Cobra Gold” joint military exercise. The incident happen in front of a bar located at the top of Soi 8 on Pattaya Beach Road, very near to Pattaya Police Station. The watch seller had an argument with the American soldiers and it escalated to a regular fight with friends of the watch seller joining the fight. The police have arrested the watch seller and charged him with a violation of the penal code section 275 allegedly offering or selling products of counterfeit trademark products, with a penalty of up to 1 year in jail and a fine of 2,000 baht. The watch seller and his brother has paid a fine of 5,000 baht for the fighting and the soldiers have paid each 1,000 baht. The case went viral around the world on social network, and the public has now called upon the Thai government to take action against these hawkers. Unfortunately it is not the first time these watch seller gangs are making trouble with tourists here, for years it has been known how aggressive and troublesome these people are, and when people complain to them, they laugh and tell that they are protected by big powers. Lets hope something will be done about this nuisance.
