Authorities search club for underage drinkers
At 3:00am on the morning of the 22nd of July, Mr. Pichet Thamhon, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Banglamung District, along with General Netithorn Rattanasuchanant and Pattaya city police officers, conducted an investigation into “The Gik Club Chill” entertainment venue on the Pattaya Third Road after receiving reports that the site was staying open past its licensed hours and had been allowing underage people to enter.
After conducting the search of the premises, officers found more than 60 people still enjoying the venue despite the late hour. A further 22 people were found to be without their identification cards, a prerequisite to entry by law, leading the authorities to believe the revelers were underage.
Four more individuals were found to have been under the influence of illegal substances.
Initially, the authorities detained all those found or suspected of being underage, as well as those who were under the influence of narcotics.
Also detained was the sites entertainment manager, Mr. Jirapong Puykampha, aged 21. He will now face criminal prosecution for the charges of opening the venue beyond its legal opening hours, as well as allowing minors into the venue and allowing minors to drink alcohol.
