Baby Dolphins remains on the ShoreBaby dolphins found dead on Yin Yom Beach
At 6:00pm on the 17th of July, our PPMG news team were informed by the concerned citizens of the remains of dead baby dolphins having been found on Yin Yom beach.
Local police officers and officials from local municipal authorities have been to the scene to investigate.
Upon reaching the beach, the officers found the remains multiple baby dolphins, each approximately 1-meter long and weighing about 20 kg.
The precise sex and age of the bodies, which are thought to have died between 5-6 days ago, are unknown due to the decomposition of the remains.
However, damage to the bodies, including the disappearance of fins and some white ropes having been found wrapped around the remains, leads officials to believe that the juvenile animals were most likely caught and injured in fishing nets.
An unnamed local motorbike taxi driver stated that the baby dolphins were initially spotted floating in the sea before being washed ashore by the tide.
Now, an investigation into the deaths of the animals will be commenced by officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and the Ministry of Fisheries.
