The Great King Inspires

Ex-con’s marathon walk inspired by King Rama IX
At 4.30am on the 3rd of May, an ex-prisoner who had just been released from Huaypong prison in Rayong, arrived in Pattaya after walking from Rayong to Bangkok and then back down to Pattaya.
The man, Mr. Poblab Pothongkam, aged 53, had been released early from prison after receiving a reduced sentence due to good behaviour.
Whilst in prison, he studied HM King Rama 9’s ‘self sufficiency theory’ and vowed to turn over a new leaf after his release.
He was so affected by the late King’s wise words that immediately after his release he walked to the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall to pay his respects to the cherished monarch. He then walked to Sattahip and finally Pattaya, helped along the way by people who had heard of his quest and gave the reformed man food, water and their blessing.
Mr. Poblab has vowed to turn his back on criminal activity and will instead focus on providing for his parents.
