IMMIGRATION ANNOUNCEMENT

We have received this important information from Chonburi Immigration Police and asked to inform foreigners living here or visiting as tourists about this matter.
WHY – Foreigners who get arrested in a criminal case and have bail approved by a Thai court and are released, and then still get arrested and imprisoned by Thai Immigration?
WHAT FOREIGNERS SHOULD KNOW – If you want to stay in Thailand or spend a holiday here you should abide by the rules of Thai Immigration according to the “Immigration Act of 1979”.
The most important rules you must know about are: Foreigners should not come here to break the law or hurt Thai people in any way. If foreigners violate Thai laws, Immigration can cancel their visa, and deport them from Thailand.
That is why even if a Thai court let a foreigners post bail in a criminal case, the Immigration can still cancel their visa and have them jailed until their case is completed at the court, where after they might be deported and Blacklisted from ever re-entering Thailand.
THE WAY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM – The foreigner must appeal the visa cancellation within 48 hours to the Thai Ministry of Interior.
