2018 KILO OF KINDNESS GLOBAL CHARITY DRIVE
Successful initiative, now in its fourth year, calls on guests to donate at least one kilo of food, clothing and educational supplies to disadvantaged communities around the world.
Pattaya, Thailand 28 August, 2018: Mövenpick Siam Hotel Na Jomtian Pattaya is helping local people in need as part of the 2018 ‘Kilo of Kindness’ global charity campaign.
Launched by Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in 2015, the highly-successful initiative, which honours the United Nations International Day of Charity on 5 September, calls on guests to donate at least one kilo of food, clothing and educational supplies to disadvantaged communities around the world, with a focus on underprivileged youngsters.
Mövenpick Siam Hotel Na Jomtian Pattaya is one of 30+ hotels across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East supporting the campaign, which runs from 1-15 September.
Guests and visitors are invited to drop off at least one kilo of food items, clothes and adult diapers at the hotel lobby during that period, which will then bedistributed to Karunyawet Home in Banglamung – Home of Mercy, which cares for women with disabilities, as part of our Kilo of Kindness campaign.Karunyawet was opened in 1994 by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhon. The home has long provided services for female patients with various physical and mental conditions.
Last year, 8,500 kilos of supplies were donated by guests of participating hotels – a figure Mövenpick hopes to surpass with its 2018 campaign. While each guest is encouraged to donate at least one ‘Kilo of Kindness’, all contributions will be gratefully received.
High-priority items include books, notebooks and stationery such as pens, pencils, rulers and erasers; canned foods such as tuna, soup, fruit, vegetables and concentrated milk; dry foods like rice, beans, oats, pasta, cereals, flour, tea and coffee; and clothing for adults.
