STEALING TO PAY LOAN SHARK
A middle age woman Mrs. Arphai Jareanphaisan age 57 was arrested for stealing a purse from a vendor at the Chaimongkol market. A Burmese employee of the store reported to the police that that a woman in her 50-ties had stolen a purse containing 14,000 baht in cash, a gold ring, her ID card (for non-Thais) and a Visa appointment letter. CCTV footage revealed the incidence and that helped the police to the arrest of the thief, who art the time of the arrest still had the 14,000 baht in cash on her. Soon after being arrested the women confessed to the theft and explaining that she had committed the crime to be able to pay off her mothers debt to a loan shark. The police also found out the Mrs. Arphai previously had stolen goods and money from people in Rayong, Aranyaprathet, Sakaeo, Banbueng, Chonburi and Chantaburi. The thief also had a burglary arrest warrant on her from Kamphangphet provincial court. Pattaya Police Chief informed our reporter that the police take the loan shark problem very serious and is going to get rid of these loan shark networks in our city.
