FLOODING COMPLAINS

FLOODING COMPLAINS
Recent heavy rain has again resulted in heavy flooding. Only hours after heavy rain low laying areas of Pattaya saw flooding of more than 20 centimeters high especially on Beach Road, Third Road, and Sukhumvit Road. It is a problem that Pattaya as a beach resort has about 21 square kilometers of low laying areas, or about half the total area of our city, this and the fact that many drain pipes are too small and old. Of course much has been done establishing huge underground drain water canals, but more needs to be done from the local administration as drains gets blocked and that waste water and in some cases sewage is forced up from the drains during heavy rain.
As Pattaya is a tourist destination it is detrimental to the image that this problem still is so serious.
