BANGLADESH NATIONAL DAY
Her Excellency Saida Muna Tasneem, Amabassador of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh to the Kingdom of Thailand was the guest of honour at the celebration of the “Independence and National Day of Bangladesh” on Wednesday 28. March at the A-One The Royal Cruise Hotel on Pattaya Beach Road. The function was organized by the Thai-Bangladeshi Community in Pattaya and the program started with an explanation of the uprising in 1971 that resulted in the formation of the state of Bangladesh, followed by speeches from the VIP guests, including Pattaya People Media Group Chairman Niels Colov and Jahangir Hossain, President, Thai-Bangladsehi Community, as well as the Ambassador, who delivered a fascinating and passionate speech about the recent progress of her country. She spoke about the development of women’s standing in the society and pointed out that the present prime minister is a woman, as are the leader of the opposition party as well as the speaker of the parliament. She also mentioned that she had proposed to the Mayor of Pattaya to create a sister city relationship between Pattaya and the prime beach resort of Bangladesh. The evening ended with a dinner and a cultural show with more than 20 dancers, musicians and singers travelling all the way from Bangladesh to this function in Thailand.
