Good Samaritans Help Grandma

Elderly woman attacked by armed rapist
At 2:00 pm on the 5th of June, Pattaya police were called out to Soi Gopa 10 in Nongprue, following reports of an attempted aggravated rape where the attacker had been detained by members of the public
After arriving at the scene, the victim, an unnamed 70-year old woman, received medical treatment for a stab wound to the left side of her chest. A large group of citizens were also watching over the alleged attacker who was identified as Mr. Samai Chaisit aged 30.
The victim told the police that she had been resting alone inside a cabin, when the perpetrator entered, armed with a knife and demanded she have sex with him. She said that he threatened to kill her if she fought back. The 70-year old grandmother did not comply with his demands and was stabbed in the chest as she resisted his attack. At this point, the attacker fled the cabin. The woman then left the cabin and attempted to find help.
Mr. Thanasak Khonchom, aged 34, told police that he saw the elderly woman walking towards him, she was bleeding and clearly in pain. At this point, the woman gave Mr. Thanasak a description of the perpetrator and he wasted no time in rallying his friends and searching the neighborhood for him.
Shortly afterwards, the group of good citizens found Mr. Samai, who matched the description given by the victim and proceeded to detain him while they waited for the police to arrive. They also found a 30cm knife that was given to the police as evidence.
The police have since begun their investigation and Mr. Samai has been detained on suspicion of aggravated rape and physical assault.
