Police reenact murder of young woman
On the 19th of May, HuayYai Police Superintendent Pol. Col. Anan Purahong took two suspects accused of murdering a young woman back to the scene of the crime. Mr. Sorasit Pumikittisawat, aged 38, and his girlfriend Miss Sainam Seeleela, aged 23, have been charged with the murder of Miss Rachada Anupab, aged 25, which occurred on the 22nd of September 2016.
The couple are accused with hitting Miss Rachada on the head and killing her in a rented room in the Huayyai Sub-district of Banglamung. The pair then threw the victims corpse into a bushy area along Route 331 and fled the city for 8 months hiding in Korat.
Both suspects confessed to the crime but told police they had acted in self defense. They state that they had been approached by Miss Rachada the night before who asked to drink alcohol with them despite not knowing them. The next morning Mr. Sorasit believed 3,000 Baht to be missing from his wallet and confronted Miss Rachada. At this point, it is claimed that the deceased drew a knife and attempted to stab Mr. Sorasit, he then struck her once to the head with a piece of wood causing her to become unconscious, she died shortly afterwards.
The couple then disposed of the body in a remote location before parking their car in Bangkok and fleeing to Nakhon Ratchasima Province. After 8 months of investigation, Huay Yai Police found the pair and they now await criminal prosecution.
