TOP OF THE GULF REGATTA 2017
The 13 th edition of Top of the Gulf Regatta presented by Ocean Marina Yacht Club on the
shores of Na Jomtien Beach, and a festival of fun on and off the water. The Regatta
welcomes a diverse range of boats: Optimists competing in the Thailand Optimist National
Championships, dinghies, one-design Platus racing in the Platu Coronation Cup, multihulls,
and keelboats made up strong cruising and IRC fleets including the TP52’s.
Celebrating the 13 th year in 2017, we will continue to showcase the beauty and marine
facilities of Pattaya and the Gulf of Thailand with 187 islands dotted along the coastline. The
cruising options in the Gulf of Thailand are endless, and with South East Asia’s largest
marina at the heart of the region, Ocean Marina is an ideal base from which to explore and
provides a safe and secure home for all Regatta Yachts.
Having received two international accolades in recent years, the regatta is a highlight on
Pattaya’s sporting calendar with more international and domestic sporting events taking place
in Pattaya each year. The regatta’s 13 years of operations has helped showcase the areas
sporting credentials to a worldwide audience and today sports tourism is an important Part of
The racing is held over the long weekend formed by the Coronation Day national day and it
incorporates the Coronation Cup (a one-design Platu contest established in 1996) as well as
the Thailand Optimist National Championships. The opening ceremony on the evening of the
first night and the gala-dinner- cum-prize giving ceremony at the end are among the major
events on social calendar in Pattaya.
The Grand Opening was conducted on May 4th by Tourism and Sports Minister Mrs.
Konkarn Watanawarangkoon and more than 250 yachts with more than 700 team members
from 25 countries signed up in the event. Ocean Marina Yacht Club is a very suitable place
for yacht competition and there have been more than 3,000 yachts in the past 12 years of the
