Officials meet to discuss use of Temple money
On the 1st of May, the deputy of Banglamung District Office Mr. Prapan Pratumchompu, met with other officials including the Banglamung Safety Control Chief from the armed forces Sub. Lt. Suwit Laklang, Banglamung sub-district Chief Mr. Thanat Pratumdaeng, representatives of the Monk Committee as well as residents of Moo 2 and 3 of Banglamung, to discuss the allocation of funds for Prachumkongka Temple.
Projects have been funded to upgrade the temple and also to increase the number of tourists visiting the holy site.
During the meeting, some Monk Committee members stated that they had not been consulted on some of the projects with actions approved by the votes of minority members alone.
Since 2008, the number of tourists to the site has increased dramatically and some local residents are concerned that this has jeopardized their traditional Buddhist way of life.
The Monk Abbot who was also present, confirmed that there is still over 65 million Baht available in the temple fund and suggested that further discussions should take place before more projects are approved.
