A pseudo call center calls people about car insurance and fraudulently takes their money.
On 5th March 2017, Mr Somkaun Sarapen (age 39) an electronic mechanic made a complaint to the mass media that his money had been stolen by a call center to the sum of 20,000 baht.
The fraud happened at 9am on the 23rd of February 2017. A Mrs Anne called the mechanic pretending to be an insurance broker from Isuzu. Mrs Anne had knowledge about the history of the mechanic’s car and told the man that his insurance would expire on the 3rd of March.
Mrs Anne convinced the mechanic making everything sound believable so the mechanic transferred 17,500 baht into ISI motor management company
Mrs Anne said that after a few days the insurance would be active.
Then on the 27th February 2017, a third insurance company called the mechanic and told him the same as Mrs Anne and that his insurance was out of date.
He tried to contact Mrs Anne but there was no reply.
The mechanic has now gone to Banglamung police station with the evidence and made a complaint against Mrs Anne.
